Meeting Minutes September 13, 2023

 

In Attendance: Hydee Edwards, Jerry Salmon, Julie Vereschagin,  Jasmine Olsen, Cheri Gilbert, Eden Wirzba, Marisa Wight, Jen Gibson, Bailey Kado, Jahneen Van Buuren, Erin Salmon, Nicole Stone, Bonnie Fromm, Katie Ford-Hofer

Principal’s Business

-ASCA & the role of school council & School Culture

            - Students First- Inspiring Excellence (Westwind Division)

            -We are all learning

            -We like kids- even the hard ones

            -We treat everyone with respect in every interaction

            -RES is great for kids and staff

            -We engage parents and community

- What the council is:

-Mission Statement, go over PAT results & finances

- 3-year growth plan, advisory council

- Enhance and support student learning, consult and provide advice to principal, representing the public- not a single agenda

- Best interest of all students and involving parents

- What the Council is not:

-School governance, not employee issue/school management, not gathering complaints

- Criminal Record Checks

Other Business

- Add School Council info to RES Newsletter

- RES Council debit card – talk to bank

- $200 or more to get a tax receipt

- Supervision Duty for teachers at lunch

- Council meetings- parents can come, you don’t have to hold a position

Meet the Teacher BBQ Review

-about 625-650 attended

-$24 ice $845 food (hot dogs, buns, cookies) chips donated from Frito Lay

- Notes for next year:

            -add some healthier options, maybe corn on the cob, watermelon, veggies, water bottles

            -have a physical meeting before to arrange instead of arranging through text, adding different options for different cultures/ethnicities

            -What went well -the moved up date, lots of garbage cans around
