RES COUNCIL MINUTES 

January 8, 2025

In Attendance: Hydee Edwards, Jerry Salmon, Julie Vereschagin, Erin Salmon, Eden Wirzba, Jasmine Olsen, Jahneen Van Buuren, Katie Nelson, Cheri Gilbert, Bonnie Fromm

Principal’s Business

Optimal Learning Environment:

• Curriculum - Teachers are aimed at requirements, they can interpret grade level, all curriculum taught but not assessed and reported, an understanding of vertical curriculum, help students to see relevance in what is being taught

READO

• Feb 3 - Reado cards handed in
• Feb 6 - school council meeting at 8:30am to sort cards
• Feb 10 - prize drawings during the school day, Grand Prize drawing at the Bingo Night

Breakdown of prizes

• Everyone gets a full sized chocolate bar/treat (school will cover cost $700)
• Per grade (cost covered by school council $210) - seeing if Scholastics will give us a deal.

• Line winner gets $5 book fair gift card
• Intersecting lines gets $10 book fair gift card
• Blackout gets $15 (or $20) book fair gift card
• Grand prize draw (at Bingo) gets $25 Chapters gift card & RES shirt
• There will also be books given out with prizes and extra book draws

Math Carnival - March 12th 6:30-8pm 

• Potentially changing the time to 6 to 7:30pm

Other Business

• Skating - school council to be in charge of going through equipment each year

• Discussed teaching the students some skating skills/etiquette on the ice before going skating.
