RES COUNCIL MINUTES
February 12, 2025
In Attendance: Hydee Edwards, Jerry Salmon, Julie Vereschagin, Angela Leavitt, Erin Salmon, Eden Wirzba, Cheri Gilbert, Diane Nelson
Principal’s Business
Optimal Learning Environment:
- Jerry will send Hydee a document on the next section to share with the council. It is a long section and there was not enough time to discuss it
Bingo Night
- The turn out was good
- The school has met their fundraising goal for the inclusive playground
One School, One Book
- March 24th - April 14th
- Will have opening and closing assemblies
- A literacy night on April 14th in celebration 4:30 - 6:30
- The book reading will follow a schedule and have mystery guest readers
- Every family gets a copy of the book
- Different stations at the literacy night
- One station will be spaghetti dinner w/purchase of a ticket to support Autism Society of Alberta
- Tickets will be pre-sold, cut off for tickets sales the Monday before
- Asking the High School Service Club to serve the spaghetti
Math Carnival - March 12th 6:30-8pm
- Has been postponed
- Will be replaced with a literacy night supporting one school, one book
Other Business
- READO Review - need better communication next time, maybe have incentives along the way to keep interest, have READO on the off years of one school, one book.
- ASCA Conference will be virtual - April 26th-27th, invite all to participate
- Next meeting will be the ASCA resolutions
