RES SCHOOL PARENT COUNCIL MINUTES

Meeting Agenda Feb. 8, 2023

In attendance:
Natalie Ball, Cheri Gilbert, Hydee Edwards, Jasmine Olsen, Jerry Salmon, Angela Leavitt, Julie Vereschagin

- Principal’s Business

- Grade 6 Ski Trip- March 1^st Encouraging students to come with classmates on the bus

- Parent Engagement Night

            - March 9^th Same night as parent/teacher conference

            - Classes offered from 5-7pm four sessions/25 minutes each session

            - Anxiety/Mental Health – Trevor Gilbert

            - Jordan’s Principle – TBA

            - Reading – Jerry Salmon

            - How to Talk to Your Kids About Sex/Internet Safety – Tami Buroker

            -Door prizes (Natalie)

            - Treats – Those on the parent council are asked to bring squares/cookies

            - Council Welcome table & flyers Front Door with veggies & fruit, treats (Cheri – box for door prizes, paper, pens etc.)

            - Advertising

- Rice Bag Makers

-Volunteers to make rice bags for the office. Students to use for ouchies - they keep going missing J

-Council Positions:

            Cheri Gilbert- Events Coordinator

            Jasmine Olsen- Secretary

            Need: Volunteer Coordinator & Hot Lunch Coordinator

- District Council Meeting Review

            - Ag opportunities in school – learning where our food comes from

                        - Ryan Barfus willing to come and teach

            - 2023-24 School Calendar officially released

            - Emergency Plan – patient parent response (Natalie will send out)

            - Bullying & Vaping

                        - Second Step program

                        - Dare to Care

                        - Introducing the Buddy Bench possible assembly

- Upcoming Events or Other Business

            - Spring Dance & Cake Walk— May 29^th Dance outside in fenced area & cakes inside the gym

            - Spring Book Fair— TBA

            - ASCA Conference – April 21-23 Hydee & Cheri for RES with Natalie going for District

            -Bylaw Review next council meeting March 8^th 2023

            - Resolutions from ASCA Conference
